Dr. Naresh Trehan is one of India’s most accomplished Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgeons, with over 40 years of experience in the field. He has performed more than 48,000 cardiac surgeries and is widely regarded for his pioneering work in complex cardiothoracic procedures. As the founder of the Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, Dr. Trehan has been at the forefront of advancing cardiac care in India. His expertise includes performing intricate surgeries such as cardiomyoplasty, myocardial total arterial revascularization, transmyocardial laser revascularization, and robotically-assisted cardiac surgeries. He also specializes in treating cardiovascular diseases, heart failure, lung cancer, and a variety of thoracic conditions.

Dr. Trehan’s educational journey began at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, in 1968, followed by advanced studies in cardiothoracic surgery from the American Board of Surgery, USA. In 2002, he was awarded a fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. His professional contributions have earned him prestigious accolades, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award. Dr. Trehan has served as the personal surgeon to the President of India since 1991, underscoring his trust and reputation in the medical community.

In addition to his clinical achievements, Dr. Trehan has held leadership roles in international medical societies, including serving as the former president of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS) in the USA.
